The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw
Independent School District encompasses
63 square miles in the
Northwest corner of Tarrant County.
The district serves Saginaw, Blue
Mound, and portions of the City of
Fort Worth. Students are enrolled,
enriched, and educated in eight elementary
schools, three middle
schools, two high schools, an alternative
learning center, and an early
childhood center.
EM-S ISD is among one of the fastest
growing school districts in the area.
According to demographic projections
provided by School District Strategies,
district enrollment is expected to double
in the next ten years.
To ensure that all students have a safe, permanent
learning
environment, the community voted to pass a bond
issue in August of 2002 that will allow the district
to
build 5 new campuses, including the district’s
second
high school. Saginaw High School, is located on the
Southwest corner of Highway 156 and Basswood. SHS
opened its doors to freshmen and sophomores in 2005
and will add a class each year with the first group
of
Roughriders receiving their diplomas in 2008. In
addition,
the district opened its third middle school,
Creekview in August of 2004.
With the hard work and dedication
of highly competent
classroom teachers and students, the district continually
performs well on state exams and is successful in
preparing
students to excel after high school.
The district offers many ways for parents, grandparents,
business men and women, and community members to
be involved. Mentoring programs offer caring adults
a
way to positively impact the life of a child in just
a few
minutes a week. The Texas Scholars program brings
business
men and women into the classroom to encourage
middle and high school students to take more challenging
curriculum.
The Board of Trustees
meets on the third
Monday of each month in the Board Room located
in the Truett B. Absher Administration Building at
1200
Old Decatur Road. The public is welcome and encouraged
to attend the meetings. Reports are presented at
an
open meeting at 5:00PM, followed by a closed session
at
6:00 PM and another open meeting at 7:00 PM. Board
meeting agendas are posted at the Administration
building
and on the district website 72 hours before each
meeting.
